BIO

Born and raised in the heart of Mississippi, this southern belle is anything but typical.  I grew up in the small town of Brandon, but moved to Hattiesburg to attend school at The University of Southern Mississippi.  After changing my major five times in four years, I finally settled into my groove as a marketing major.  I graduated in May of 2012, but I was not quite ready to leave the home I’d found in south Mississippi.  In the fall of 2012, I began pursuing a master’s degree in public relations.  My coursework wraps up this summer, and I’m scheduled to graduate in December of this year.

My love for writing showed itself at a very young age.  I can remember wanting to by a new notebook with my two dollar allowance every week when my mom would take me on her errand running adventures.  In the summer of 2012, I began a fashion and lifestyle blog called Mississippi Hippy after becoming nearly obsessed with various blogs I had found online.  Not expecting it to take off very quickly, but putting my heart into every post, in just nine short months, the blog is receiving close to 3,000 hits per week.

Through blogging, I discovered a love and a passion for social media.  I am currently the social media intern for Cliff Brown Advertising and am in charge of the public relations and social media for The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Nursing.  I have taken many courses in optimizing social media and am constantly pursuing more opportunities to get experience in the area.  In addition to blogging and social media, I am a contributor to Southern Blog Society and a brand ambassador for Warby Parker.
